Body Edit: Moist
Listen up. We have less than 70 days until summer.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Read below and take heed.
Olay In Shower Body Lotion- Such a low key OG. My mother put me on to this way back in the day when I relied on her toiletry arsenal for my growing interest in all things beauty. (still do.) While other brands have dropped a similar product, this original cannot be duplicated. With a luxurious (minus the price tag) scent, it works with the warmth of your skin and the humidity in the shower to give you smooth and supple skin. I keep two of these on deck because I can’t imagine a shower without lathering myself in this after cleansing. I do only use this product on my upper body, belly button and above. I’m always thinking of my yoni and I protect her PH at all costs.
Mederma Dry Oil- Honey. This one was a TJ Maxx discovery but can also be found at your local Target. Mederma is one of the leading products on the market for healing scars and this specific product aids with dry skin AND uneven skin tone. I use this right after the shower on my bikini area (it has done numbers on my darkness/discoloration aka the pop out this summer will be bananas. Please be advised.) and also on my butt cheeks. I don’t care to get rid of stretch marks as they are a rite of passage into womanhood and I earned my stripes. However, I am all for showing my wagon the love it deserves and keeping it ash-free. This light-weight, fragrance and dye free formulation does just that!
Sweet Almond Oil- Game changer! This is a staple for looking like a glow bomb without the greasy feel. I have this sitting right outside of my shower so that I can apply once I pat dry. Working with slightly damp skin allows this product to amplify my skin tone, giving the people that Lupita Nyongo melanated radiance. It’s such a light oil that you don’t have to worry about slipping and sliding in the warmer months. side note, this on your feet right after the shower will save you from cutting up your sheets like you’ve been doing all winter
Ancient Cosmetics Body Butter- While we will stan for black owned businesses, we will forever stan for amazing products (AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!) I’m going to keep this short so that you can spend your time navigating through their stunning collection of products. I only use this on days that I want extra moisture so I reach for this about twice a week. The first fragrance I tried, Poppin Papaya and Patchouli, has an overall fruity smell with a musky undertone that comes out once someone is close. HEY BAE. After falling in love with the consistency, thick but melts into a pliable balm, I had to try out another one. I grabbed for the Crispy Pear and Thyme scent, more so on the fruity side but bearable and will be a go to for the summer months.
Bonus Face Edition Habo Labo Hyaluronic Acid Lotion- I never knew what true unconditional love was until I discovered a product that allowed me to wake up looking like the child of God that I am! This has aided in my face going back to the plumpness that escaped me after dealing with trash friends, draining jobs, and a plethora of wrong men. BOYS. It also is to blame for my acne reduction. Dare I say that drying out your face in the name of smoking out all things acne is not the answer. MIND BLOWN. I use this morning AND night after cleansing. And literally drown my face and neck in this, be mindful that a little bit truly goes a long way.
Bonus Errwhur Edition Neutrogena Hydro Boost Express Hydrating Spray- Okay, shout out to Bartley for putting me on to this product. Do note that I am a huge fan of Neutrogena skincare products in general. Their grapefruit exfoliating face wash was an essential during college. As my skin is maturing, it is important to stay up on hydration! I use this after cleansing, mostly in the AM prior to makeup application. It gives you a very hydrated glow so you can mask the everlasting look of “What Is Life” from everyone. upside down smile While I mainly use this on my face, I’ve taken a quarter size of this onto my collarbone, shoulders and arms to give them some hydration and it really makes the skin reflect light. Which is a win win on a summer night.
